1) Tell us about yourself!
I was born in Allentown, PA, but raised in Takoma Park, MD. I spent my days in the tree-loving city playing soccer and basketball, going to movies, and just kicking it with friends. Life was good. Like the previous poster, I’m also a product of Montgomery County schools. I attended Montgomery Blair High School where I soon became infatuated with history. Thanks to a host of great social studies teachers, I knew I wanted to pursue it in college. My decision to stay local was largely driven by my awesome family. (Yes, I’m a homebody). As it is, I’m currently a senior at American University majoring in History. Although I have no idea what I’m doing when I graduate in May, I like to think I’ve learned the prerequisites of any job. I’d like to pursue graduate school at some point in the future, but for the time being I’m content to just find my footing in the “real” world. Through and through, soccer has remained my one true passion. Obviously, I support D.C. United, though internationally I’ve acquired a particular liking for North London’s Arsenal FC. It was only natural that when I had to write my capstone this year, I chose to focus on soccer. If anyone knows any good adult leagues for after I graduate, I’m all ears.
2) Tell us about the ‘Ugly’ in your photo.
I bought this shirt on Black Friday two years ago at a department store (Macy’s perhaps?). I only paid $20, so it was not a considerable monetary investment. Needless to say, I haven’t worn it since I got my hands on Hugh and Crye’s Prospector. The worst part about my ‘Ugly’ shirt is that it was designed for a 5’6” version of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. I’m all for going to the gym to bulk up, but in order to fill this shirt out I would have had to been lifting since my days in Allentown. No amount of tucking-in can fix all the bagginess on the sleeves and in the back.
3) Tell us about the photo of you in your Hugh & Crye!
If I could wear the shirt in this photo to work everyday, I would. Sadly, I’m still a college student and funds are limited. Though my collection is slowly building; I’ve currently got two Hugh & Crye shirts. Simply put, my favorite part about the shirt in the photo is that it actually fits! It’s not too baggy and it’s not too tight (i.e. it looks good AND it’s comfortable). The shirt is designed to fit my body type and I don’t have to pretend to be a size that I’m not.
4) Finally, tell us something interesting about yourself.
This spring I’m interning at NASA Headquarters downtown. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my first few weeks and I’m learning a lot. The staff there is a lot of fun and I’m looking forward to the rest of my time there. Interestingly, I wore the shirt in the photo when I interviewed for my position. I was offered the position a week later. Coincidence? Perhaps.
