The Pocket Cocktail
In this series, we pair one of unique print pocket squares with a delicious cocktail. One starts a conversation, the other keeps it going. Today’s edition will transport you to the ease of the south, and was created by Ian Lauer of Tempered Spirits.
[inspired by our Hickory pocket square]
With a name inspired by Rome, Georgia, and a Gregg Allman song, this cocktail features an infused honey syrup that brings out the best in peach brandy.
- 1-1/2 ounces Ivy Mountain Georgia Peach Brandy
- 3/4 ounce Bay-Honey Syrup
- 3/4 ounce Lemon Juice
- 8 drops (1 dash) Bittercube Blackstrap Bitters
Just shake with ice, and strain into a chilled coupe or cocktail glass.
Notes: When it’s combined with the musky mellowness of a homemade bay-infused honey syrup, the peach brandy becomes even more peachy, tasting older than it actually is. The bitters provide a nice caramel, cinnamon accent that rounds out the drink. As it warms, it becomes sweeter, so you may want to cut the syrup back to 1/2 oz.
Which night of the week will you test this cocktail out?
